Once upon a time AOL was not this easy. Here are
screenshots from early software, showing you what
the pioneering (and long-suffering) user went through.

One-time process eh? Maybe for some
people...

Is this a trick question? Yes I
installed it before, but the files
were "corrupted," so Tech Help gave the sage advice to re-install.

I have no idea what choices #2-
#4 mean. I know I don't want #5. So let's go with #1.

When you press ESC twice, you
get kicked out of the program entirely. Back to Square 1.
Well, with a
"WARNING" like that, I'll go with #1.

I have no idea.

Who cares? Just install it somewhere.

I tried to accept the
suggestion as suggested,
but it didn't work. So I "made changes as needed."

5 minutes? OK, I'll brew a cup
of coffee. Oops, I have to
hang around and wait for the tone. Never mind.

So far so good...

Oops. Thanks for telling me. :)

Rats! Off to hunt a new
disk. Back to Square 1.

Changes? Hmm, this makes me
nervous.

So I think I'll pass.

I'll be contrary. No.

Thanks for telling me.

Ha -not making the changes gets
you booted out of
the program! Back to Square 1. Fine, I'll make the changes.

Great. Are we there yet?

Hooray!
For some reason, I wasn't able
to print up the installation screens. My
favorites were the last two. I was asked what kind of modem I had and one
of the choices was, "I don't have a modem." Just out of curiosity, I
clicked
it. I was told, "Sorry, you need a modem to connect to AOL!" and
booted
out of the program. Gotta love it. :)
